If, like us, you’ve spent the past few months with one foot in the sprawling fantasy kingdom of Teyvat, you’ll know how important it is to maintain a steady supply of Condensed Resin.
We’re talking, of course, about Genshin Impact, miHoYo’s majestic open-world gacha RPG. Try to keep up.
Condensed Resin is a huge deal in Genshin Impact, helping you to complete domains, revitalise Ley Line Blossoms and Petrified Trees for rewards, complete boss encounters, and more.
You can only hold three at a time, unfortunately, so it’s always worth ensuring that you have the means to craft new ones. Here’s how.
The main thing you’ll need is Crystal Cores, which are composed of living material that absorbs the elemental energy in the atmosphere. You find Crystal Cores inside Crystalflies, which is catastrophic for these beautiful glowing butterflies but great for you – as long as you know where to look.
Crystalflies can be found in Mondstadt and Liyue, hovering in handy little swarms. More specifically, you’ll find them in Guyin Stone Forest, the western region of the Bishui Plains, Mount Tianheng, and the Ciujue Slope, and other locations too.
Because Crystalflies are luminous, it’s best to search for them at night, when they’ll be easy to pick out in the darkness.
The trick when collecting Crystalflies is to act quickly and decisively. Like real butterflies, they tend to scatter and fly away when you get close, so speed is of the essence. Use your dash, and jump when you’re within range. Using a taller character can help.
Also, getting above the Crystalflies and gliding is often more effective than trying to reach them from the ground, for obvious reasons.
The best way to collect the greatest number of Crystalflies with the minimum effort is to develop or research a farming route – a sequence of locations that you can visit in “rounds” to hoover up the Crystalflies that spawn daily.
